Modern furniture fans have a treat in store

Modern furniture fans have some treats coming up, with big auctions planned in May at Auckland auction houses Webb's and Art + Object.

Webb's are collaborating for the fifth time with modern furniture specialists Mr. Bigglesworthy, who not only source the best mid-century New Zealand furniture, but import great discoveries from the UK and US as well.

The auction is being held at Webb's on May 15 at 6.30pm, with a preview event on May 8 at 6.30pm.

Here are some of the highlights from the upcoming auction:

The 'Goldola' sofa (above) was designed by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates.

The 'B40' teak sideboard (above) is by Dieter Waeckerlin for Behr Mobel.

And this 'Mr' chair and ottoman (above) is by George Mulhauser for Plycraft. You can see the full catalogue of treasures here.

A Ballerina Jeweled-Tone Apartment at The Dakota Building

If you think all ballerinas live in a loft in Soho with bars on the walls and leather sofas then you may be mistaken.  This beautiful 4,700 sf apartment at the Dakota building in New York City proves that nothing further than that concept.  This ballerina apartment abounds with color on the walls, hand painted de Gournay wallpaper, sumptuous crystal chandeliers and a four poster mirrored bed just to mention a few of its proving points.  The overall atmosphere in this apartment is a refined and feminine space with a mélange of 50's and 70s pieces enveloped in jewel colors.  The unique design of the space is the work of Interior Designer Sasha Bikoff.

Friday Eye Candy: Chanel Perfume Bottle Shaped Evening Bag

I'm loving Chanel late style bags.  The perfume bottle shaped evening bag is especially chic, fun and playful.  I have always loved everything Chanel but haven't felt the same about its classic flap bags.  Chanel is an iconic brand and everything that carries its name has a strong identity, principally the flap bags.  You can spot them a mile away.  I'm happy Karl Lagerfeld is bringing in new bag design styles as the Boy Chanel and other fun playful kinds.  I think it targets a younger crowd while refreshing the image of the brand.  Enjoy!

Swans: Legends of the Jet Society by Nicholas Foulkes

Swan: Legends of the Jet Society book gives us a glance into the aristocratic world of the privileged and jet setters.  Written by Nicholas Foulkes, the book is full of beautiful images and anecdotes detailing the luxurious lifestyle of an elite way of life.  Traveling in private jets and luxurious yachts, throwing decadent parties and wearing haute couture are some of the indulges we get to see in this book.  Clearly a must-have book to any chic library.

Cameron Diaz Manhattan Apartment

Given that celebrities like glamorous and alluring spaces, it's not surprising that Cameron Diaz apartment in Manhattan's West Village is full of shiny and lustrous surfaces.  Cameron's apartment has a hue palette that ranges from soothing pinks, emerald-green kitchen cabinets, mirror tiles in the bathroom and dazzling brass counter top in the kitchen.  Enjoy

Retail Therapy: Five Unique and Beautiful Furniture Pieces for Your Home

The excuse to not having a stylish and well decorated home are slimming down thanks to the many beautiful and well constructed furniture options available in retail now a days.  I would buy this Vilas Velvet Daybed form Anthropologie in a heartbeat.  It's a piece of furniture that would go well in any type of decor style.   The Patterned Nailhead Upholstered Screen from West Elm is another good choice to bring some architectural details to any room.   And to bring a modern edgy touch to the house I love, the Moderne Lamp with that beautiful antique brass finish.  The Jenna green coffee table is simply chic while the Cowhide rug will keep things cool.

How to make One-Pan Turkish Eggs

Turkish breakfast is healthy.  It consists of tomatoes, feta cheese, olives, yogurt, jam, cucumber, usually boiled eggs and the traditional 'pide' bread.  There is also the Turkish One Pan Eggs which is mostly for Brunch kind of day.  Whenever we make them we like to keep it simple on ingredients seeing that these eggs can get quite fancy and laborious.  Since today is a holiday in Brazil we decided to make these yummy eggs and enjoy them with the little one.  If you've never tried them you should as they are deliciously crunchy.  This is how easy they are to make.

You'll need:

Cast Iron pan
PAM Spray
Sausage (traditionally 'Sucuk')
Presunto (traditionally Pastrami)
Tomatoes
Eggs, 'duh..
Salt to taste

Cooking Method:  Add the ingredients to the pan in the order listed above, cover the pan until eggs are cooked to your like.
